Windows Users: The most useful shortcut you never knew about…
October 15th, 2007 by Jonathan JohnsonI finally had it yesterday, I just knew there had to be a way to do it. I had previously asked two other Windows gurus, and they didn’t have the answer. I searched high and low, and couldn’t find the answer.
But yesterday, I finally found it. Press the Windows key and E together. Go ahead, try it, I’ll wait.
And there you have it. There is a way to open a new Explorer window without touching your mouse.

If you asked that on NUG I would let you know
Other useful WinKey shortcuts I use:
To toggle between desktop and current window: WinKey + D
To minimize all windows: WinKey + M
To navigate on the taskbar buttons: WinKey + TAB (after selecting press space to get the window)
To get the Search (files and folders) window: WinKey + F
To get the Run window: WinKey + R

The Windows key shortcuts have been around since Windows 95, so these work on any version of Windows since then.
